Proposed Regulatory Concepts

The consultation on the regulatory concepts, proposed by the Transition Council, is now closed.

The proposed regulatory concepts are intended to reflect evolving practice by empowering team-based veterinary care and improving accountability while ensuring quality to protect the public. The Transition Council is currently making decisions on the proposed regulatory concepts to support the new legislation. The concepts are being forwarded to the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Agribusiness, who will prepare the regulations. Concepts cover the following key topics:

  • licensure
  • authorized activities
  • regulatory exemptions for non-members
  • quality team-based care
  • administration

Consultation Report

Consultation feedback was gathered through a 102-question survey which invited consultation participants to share their support for each proposed concept and provide general feedback. Acer Consulting compiled the consultation feedback in a report which highlights key themes, areas of support, concerns raised, and suggestions for refinement. Transition Council has reviewed the report and is currently finalizing the proposed regulatory concepts.
