The discipline committee may be directed by council, executive or the complaints committee to conduct hearings to determine allegations of professional misconduct or serious neglect against a member or former member of the CVO. Panels of three to five members conduct these tribunals. Each panel must have at least one public member. Discipline hearings are generally open to the public. However, the discipline panel can direct that all or part of a hearing be held in camera to protect confidential matters.
