Online Modules

Welcome to CVO’s Online Learning Module:
Medical Records for Companion Animal Practice

This learning module has been designed to help veterinarians understand their legal and professional obligations with regards to record keeping. It is based on the face-to-face Medical Records Workshops delivered by the College across the province each year.

Technical specifications: Your computer must have Adobe Flash Player software in order for you to access this learning module. If you do not have this software on your computer, you may download it for free at http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ . For Macintosh users, please view the modules through Safari or Netscape.

Instructions: Each chapter of the module includes an audio component, which you may turn off if you so choose by adjusting the volume icon at the bottom of your screen. The speech is also written out as Notes, which are provided on the right-hand side of your screen. If you would prefer to see all slides presented as small sequential images instead of seeing Notes in this area, simply select the “Thumbnail” tab on this side of the screen. The slides contain summarized information and images to provide you with key learning points and sample record-keeping tools.

To move backwards or forwards within a chapter, click on the arrow icons at the bottom left of the screen.

To pause the chapter for any reason, click on the Pause icon.

To restart the chapter, click on the large Play button.

Please click the small layout icon on the bottom right of this player to open the ‘Notes’ feature for the written text of the presentation.

Self-directed learning: You may review all 4 chapters in this Learning Module in sequence, or go to the chapter that most interests you. Participation in this Learning Module is self-directed and anonymous. The CVO does not keep a record of your participation in the module, though you may wish to print the exercises within a Chapter to review later and to retain in your own Continuing Professional Development records.
