Quality Assurance

QA PROGRAM for MEMBERS
The Quality Assurance Committee researches, develops, reviews, and makes recommendations to the Council respecting matters of quality assurance programs for members, including continuing education, professional development, practice review, and peer-review.  The QA Program for members is a grouping of proactive, specific components as outlined in the Position Statement:  Quality Assurance Program for Members, and listed below.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Cycle Documentation
CPD is the process through which licensed veterinarians maintain and enhance their post-graduate level of knowledge, skills, and judgment, and thereby maintain professional standards of practice and individual competence.  Guidance Notes explain the process, expectations, and requirements for members.  The Cycle includes 3 main steps: planning, acting and logging, and reporting on one's CPD activities.  The QA Committee designs tools to support members at each step of the cycle (see below).  Click on each step, below, for the right Tools to use when documenting your CPD.  For more detailed information that will assist you in completing these tools, see CPD FastFacts #1 - #5.  For CPD Cycle sample documents that demonstrate how to complete the tools, see Case Studies.
