
CVO Legislation
Veterinarians in Ontario are regulated by the Veterinarians Act and Ontario Regulation 1093 which are under the jurisdiction of the Ontario government through the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food. Links to searchable versions of the legislation are below.
The By-laws define the operation of the administration of the College. The CVO By-laws are drafted by the Council of the College and circulated to every member of the College at least 60 days before passage.
The Minimum Standards for Veterinary Facilities in Ontario are established by the council of the College under the authority of the Veterinarians Act. To establish or operate a veterinary facility in Ontario, the facility must comply with these standards or be granted specific exemptions by the Accreditation Committee to obtain the required "Certificate of Accreditation".
